Ittoqqortoormiit – Groenlandia

Città della Groenlandia, abitata da poco più di 500 persone che vivono di caccia e di pesca. L’unico modo per arrivarci e attraverso elicottero o barca. Luogo famoso sopratutto per la vicinanza con il Parco Nazionale della Groenlandia, che ospita varie specie di animali, per lo più in via d’estinzione. Nonostante le condizioni climatiche avverse, è un luogo visitato da turisti, si registrano circa 150 visite all’anno.

Arcipelago situato nell’Oceano Atlantico, è conosciuto anche con il nome di Edimburgo dei sette mari. L’isola più vicina (Sant’Elena) dista 2000 km. Essendo un’isola molto piccola, non sono presenti aeroporti e porti. Può essere raggiunta solo dopo 1 settimana di navigazione, su un’imbarcazione poco confortevole. L’isola, essendo poco contaminata da parte dell’uomo, offre la possibilità a studiosi e scienziati di alloggi per lo studio e la preservazione delle specie animali a rischio d’estinzione.

Oymyakon è il luogo più freddo del pianeta, con temperature che raggiungono – 70°gradi in inverno. Il suo strano nome significa “acqua non congelata” e deriva dall’insolita presenza di una sorgente naturale d’acqua calda. Purtroppo, negli anni, si sono registrate delle forti emigrazioni che hanno dimezzato la popolazione a poco più di 400 abitanti. La cosa davvero insolita, è che questa città è uno dei luoghi del mondo con un basso tasso di mortalità. Sarà il freddo?

Isole Svalbard – Novergia

Isola situata a metà tra Norvegia e Polo nord. Il suo insolito nome significa”costa fredda”, nonostante non sia uno dei luoghi più ospitali della terra, possiede molti servizi come: centri commerciali, ospedali ed asili. Si può raggiungere in aereo da Oslo in soli 3 ore oppure tramite compagnie low cost interne. Queste isole in passato furono patria di cacciatori di balene che si avventuravano per contrabbando di pelli pregiate.

Queste isole sono conosciute anche come le isole della desolazione, a causa della sua ubicazione, quasi impossibile da raggiungere. Infatti per poter raggiungere queste isole il viaggio è molto lungo e dispendioso, circa 15 mila dollari solo per il trasporto. Per prima cosa per poter arrivare bisogna prendere un traghetto dalle Reunion, dove ogni 3 mesi parte un traghetto. Dopo circa 1 settimana di viaggio in mare aperto, siete arrivati. Essendo così remota, quest’isola è esclusivamente abitata da ricercatori e scienziati che studiano i cambiamenti climatici

Villaggio Supai- Arizona

Villaggio sperduto nel Gran Canyon in Arizona, deve la sua popolarità alle Havasu falls, alcune tra cascate più belle del mondo. Il suo essere inaccessibile deriva dalla sua ubicazione, è raggiungibile solamente tramite un sentiero (Hvasupai Trail) di svariati chilometri che si può percorrere a piedi o su un mulo. La cosa curiosa è che la posta viene ancora recapitata tramite mulo.

Possedimento britannico, la terra più vicina è l’isola di Pasqua e le isole della Polinesia francese. Raggiungibile solo via mare, se si parte da Tahiti in 2 giorni nel caso si partisse dalla Nuova Zelanda ci vogliono ben 8 giorni di viaggio. Queste isole non dispongono di un porto poichè le poche imbarcazioni che arrivano sono molto semplici. Isola frequentata per lo più da vulcanologi che studiano i fenomeni vulcanici, in uno dei luoghi più attivi del mondo.

Isola situata nell’arcipelago delle Aleuntine in Alaska, ha 270 abitanti. Durante la seconda guerra mondiale fu un’importante stazione navale a causa della sua posizione strategica. La cosa molto particolare di questa isola, è la presenza di un solo fornitore turistico (AHA) Aleutine Housting Authority. L’isola si può raggiungere facilmente in aereo ma vi costerà molti soldi ed inoltre la cosa più difficile è trovare posto sull’aereo. Le prenotazioni aprono solamente ad aprile e gli aerei hanno una capienza molto piccola. Inoltre d’estate il cielo è spesso coperto e sono presenti raffiche di vento superiori a 190 km/h
